That is right– mucus is our friend. It is trying to heal you. Just like diarrhea–water dumped into the bowel to protect you against the harsh acids that will burn your intestinal  wall– mucus is doing the same thing. By the time you see mucus-that is a sign that your problem is getting serious– like crohn’s disease serious. If this is accompanied with blood-can you say ulcerative colitis? If we did not have the mucus and water thing going on-our stomach acids would blow a hole in our gut– ulcers-leaky gut– in a few days. When you do not have the mucosal lining protecting your GI tract– that is what happens. You cannot have a mucosal lining if you were not breast fed or you have ingested anti bacterial stuff- like in your food and water and everywhere. I get a kick out of people who say “I have never had antibiotics. Ya– right!-then YOU explain why you have blood and mucus poring out of your butt. It’s been 33 years and no one has a better explanation than this— do you have one? You doctor? So the moral of the story is to say thank you to the mucus in toilet bowl (  why is it called toilet- must have been labeled that by some one toiling with colitis etc). BTW-do it when no one is at home– don’t want any one see you leaning over the bowl saying “thank you mucus.”The solution–replace your mucosal lining. I am exhausted from telling you how to do it in so many posts in this blog. The 1st steps– get a good probiotic– none of this bs stuff at walmart or cvs and some colostrum-perhaps from a neighborhood cow—get down there and suck it right up!
