IBS Treatment: IBS is Not an Auto-Immune Disease

health sign IBS Treatment: IBS is Not an Auto Immune DiseaseIBS treatment should not be centered on treating an auto-immune disease.

IBS, as well as Crohn’s disease, leaky gut syndrome, and colitis are not auto-immune diseases. The associated symptoms that people experience with these disorders are a reaction of the immune system, but it is not the cause. Symptoms such as abdominal pain, diarrhea and the presence of blood and mucous in the stool has its root cause in another area.

Although you may be diagnosed with irritable bowel syndrome, a doctor will typically not be able to explain its cause to you. The truth is that this condition is easily explained. It is simply the digestive juices eating away the lining in your colon. The cause of the lining becoming weaker is most often antibiotic medication. Once a hole develops, undigested material slips through the hole and enters your blood stream.

At this point, your immune system kicks in and attacks the food particle as an invader in the blood. It is the immune system that acts in a way that produces the symptoms associated with a condition such as IBS or Crohn’s disease. The root cause however, is not the immune system, but the lining in the intestines.

When you visit a doctor, he will recognize that the immune system is causing the problem but may not recognize what is triggering the immune system’s response. This may lead to improper treatment with medication designed to suppress the immune system instead of treating the problem of deterioration of the intestinal lining. The result for a patient in this situation is that the problem will get worse, not better.

If the damage to the lining gets to the point where it is life-threatening, your doctor will recommend surgery to remove portions of the intestine. This surgery can be avoided, if only a doctor would provide a proper diagnosis from the beginning. Treatment should center on saving the lining of the colon before it becomes too late for anything but surgery.

Once you know the cause, IBS  treatment becomes much easier and effective.

The key to getting this treatment is to seek an alternative option, like a second opinion from a naturopathic doctor who does not make a diagnosis based upon conventional medical approaches. This type of doctor will be able to understand your problem. They diagnose from a different perspective and are always dedicated to the Hippocratic Oath that puts the patient first with a dedication to doing no harm.

A second opinion should make sense. When a doctor prescribes medication to suppress your immune system and this leads to a worse condition, it stands to reason that the treatment is not working or there has been a misdiagnosis. Always ask questions about your condition and insist on getting answers.

In conclusion, IBS is not an auto-immune disorder of any kind. There is no reason to allow your body to deteriorate from this condition. The reasons for your symptoms are understood by naturopathic doctors. You can reverse the course of this disorder and start to get better.  It is only a matter of seeking out and using the services of a doctor that understands how to proscribe an effective IBS treatment plan.

Food and IBS: Don’t Blame What You Eat for Your IBS!

wheatbran1 Food and IBS: Dont Blame What You Eat for Your IBS!When it comes to food and IBS, a lot of people seem to get confused about a few things. Many people think that there is a connection between consumption of certain foods and Irritable Bowel Syndrome.

People should know that when it comes to food and IBS, food has nothing to do with the condition.

It is simple — people cannot get an inflammatory bowel condition from eating. People also cannot cure their IBS by what they eat or don’t eat. Many people believe that junk food can cause IBS and eating certain things, like organic foods, can cure IBS.

Those misconceptions are just the tip of the iceberg of all of the wives’ tales that run rampant about food and IBS.  Some people believe their IBS was caused by food poisoning that they had previously contracted. Others claim that their doctor told them to stay away from dairy and gluten foods, and think that if they stop eating these foods that their colitis will simply go away.

These are just a few examples of the erroneous information given out about food and IBS.

Just in case you were wondering, neither of the above issues, food poisoning or eating dairy and gluten foods, causes IBS.  And, IBS will not be cured by staying away from dairy and gluten foods.  Those who have some form of IBS usually have a pre-existing condition that has nothing to do with food ingestion.

However, fiber-rich foods do have a connection. For example, if a person has a chronic gastrointestinal condition and they eat foods high in fiber, then a person’s condition may become further aggravated.  This person could up getting diarrhea, gas, bloating, or pain. This is really the only legitimate food and IBS connection.  Remember, food is not responsible for your IBS but it may occasionally irritate the condition.

However, there is one food rule too keep in mind if you suffer from IBS. Eating a diet that is low in fiber can be beneficial until a person with IBS is healed. Once a person is healed, they will be able to consume whatever food that they desire.  When trying to heal from IBS, try avoiding consumption of dairy and/or wheat, both of which have been known to aggravate the condition.

Bottom line – the consumption of certain foods cannot cause nor cure your irritable bowel condition. Food and IBS are remotely connected in terms of worsening your IBS symptoms, but don’t blame food for your IBS condition.

Benefits of Colostrum: The Missing Link in GI Health

mother breastfeeding baby Benefits of Colostrum: The Missing Link in GI HealthBenefits of colostrum are numerous when talking about GI health.

Colostrum is certainly an essential part of the protocol I use in order to treat every gastrointestinal problem. As a matter of fact, it is even a part of Mother Nature’s protocol when it comes to preventing GI problems as well as other health issues.

With regards to Holistic Gastro-enterology, colostrum is undoubtedly the most interesting and important part of it, since it can not only prevent diseases but also cure the already existing ones. This is a pure example of nature’s wisdom and, in order to meet all the criteria for a healthy gastrointestinal tract, we have to perfectly mimic the natural protocol of Mother Nature. It must be mentioned that the gastrointestinal tract is composed of stomach, esophagus and intestines.

When a mother is breastfeeding her child, colostrum is released through her milk, and it is well-known that one of the benefits of colostrum includes anti-inflammatory properties.

It also relieves allergies and prevents a series of diseases such as cancer or Alzheimer’s. Moreover, colostrum also contains precious antioxidants and anti-aging components, which are said to be the fountain of youth because they eliminate free radicals. Besides colostrum, breast milk also contains important amounts of probiotics, which are good bacteria that help maintain a healthy gastrointestinal tract.

Combined with probiotics, colostrum protects the GI tract, and this is why it is vital to maintain proper levels of good bacteria in the gastrointestinal tract. Unfortunately, every time you take antibiotics, these pills not only kill the harmful bacteria but the good bacteria as well, and this can seriously endanger the health of your GI tract. The bad thing is that once they are killed by antibiotics, probiotics do not grow back on their own.  You need to replace the good bacteria if you want to prevent any future GI problems.

How can you restore the proper level of good bacteria? It’s simple — all we have to do is to imitate what Mother Nature provided in the first place. In other words, we need to take a good probiotic along with colostrum. If you take only colostrum without a probiotic, you will not solve your problem because it will not adhere to the gastrointestinal tract and will not protect it. Now you know why you have not noticed any improvement when taking colostrum alone for treating your gastrointestinal problems.

If you are looking for advice that can help you solve your GI problems and get rid of the bothersome IBD (Inflammatory Bowel Disease), all you need to do is to combine the benefits of colostrum with probiotics. Colostrum  in capsule and powder-form can be found at health food stores, or they can be ordered online. Many people have tried numerous treatments and probiotics to get rid of IBD and they did not succeed, and this is because they were not aware of the benefits of colostrum taken with probiotics.

Constipation and IBS: Why Am I Constipated?

constipatedman Constipation and IBS: Why Am I Constipated? Most people suffering from inflammatory bowel disease (IBD) also suffer from constipation and IBS.

Even though constipation itself isn’t actually an IBD and the most common symptom of IBD is diarrhea, there are some people who are predisposed to both diarrhea and constipation. They are called “swingers,” as they tend to swing from one state to the other, which causes some confusion. This is because once the diarrhea is treated, you also have to manage the constipation.

Genetics is the most common root reason for constipation. If you are a person who is genetically predisposed to being chronically constipated, it means that your body doesn’t absorb or manage both the magnesium in your food and any magnesium you get from a multi-vitamin.

Magnesium is nature’s stool softener and is considered nature’s tranquilizer for those who are always stressed about their constipation and IBS condition. It is this magnesium that properly regulates the amount of fluids found in your stool so that your stools are soft enough, but not too soft to easily pass through your GI tract. Moreover, magnesium is a natural muscle relaxer that helps with proper muscle contraction and expansion by loosening your bowels and helping those suffering from a common condition referred to as, “tight-ass.”

There are several things you need to know regarding magnesium. If your body doesn’t manage fluids properly, then you will have to consume magnesium on a regular basis. However, magnesium is not addictive. Most people don’t mind regularly taking magnesium, as long as they receive natural and consistent bowel movement without any other side effects.

Milk of Magnesia is a very “crude” form of magnesium that leads to “violent” effects. Instead of using Milk of Magnesia, visit a good health food store and ask for high absorption magnesium and then start taking 1-2 tablets daily to find out what works best for you in treating constipation and IBS.

It is a well-known fact that fiber is also helpful in treating constipation and IBS.

However, before you start consuming fibrous food, you have to be careful if you think that a lack of magnesium might be an issue. If you don’t address this condition first, you won’t be able to move your bowels, and fiber just piles up in your colon. In other words, if you suffer from chronic constipation, it is better to first try magnesium.

In most cases, constipation can be managed using the right kind of fiber, which is insoluble fiber. Psyillium is considered the best option here. Of course, you can use magnesium and psyllium together, too, if you think that’s best for your body.

This last fact about constipation will really surprise you. The human body generally has 3 bowel movements in a day. So, after you eat a meal, you have to eliminate all the waste collected from yesterday’s meals. While babies and animals do this very well, adults don’t naturally do as well. If you are one of those who thought that going once a day or every other day was good enough, you are wrong. Preventing yourself from having regular bowel movements can have negative effects on your health.

Prevent your constipation and IBS by ensuring that your body receives the magnesium and fiber that it needs for regular and healthy bowel movements.

Why Your Doctor Can’t Cure IBS?

medicines Why Your Doctor Cant Cure IBS?Many of my clients ask me the question, “Why can’t my doctor cure IBS?”  When referring to IBS (Irritable Bowel Syndrome), the client is referring to the other names by which IBS is known, including colitis, UC, leaky gut, Crohn’s Disease, Irritable Bowel Disease (IBD) and others. In the medical community, there are many questions and much misinformation as to what these conditions are and what causes them. In turn, many patients are getting inaccurate information and are being misled, which causes frustration and fear in these patients. Because of this fear, several individuals seek out alternative medicine to cure IBS.

The inability to understand IBS and its cure are primarily due to the fact that the same “old paradigm” is being used to try and understand it. Older forms of medicine state that most diseases are caused by germs, but IBS is not. Therefore, there exists much misinformation and confusion about the issue, which exacerbates the IBS problem.

The most common method to cure IBS symptoms is to prescribe antibiotics, which is the polar opposite of what should be done, and I believe that this one action is the primary cause of IBS.

Another common treatment includes putting the patient on steroids, which does little but mask the patients’ symptoms but doesn’t cure any actual problems. Moreover, pumping in steroids can lead to various toxic side effects, which can prove to be fatal in some cases.

A third misdirected choice is to perform surgery to cure IBS.  All this accomplishes is simply cutting out the patient’s intestines. This treatment stems from a commonly held belief in the traditional medical community of, “if you can’t fix the problem, simply cut it out.”

Because the actual cause of IBS is the use of antibiotics, it becomes much clearer why your physician (the prescriber of the antibiotics) is unable to explain its cause or to cure it.

The most effective way to treat and cure your IBS is through a Naturopathic Doctor who specializes in holistic gastroenterology.  The only way to cure IBS is to fix the problem by completely rebuilding the GI tract tissues, and this is done by using organic substances from which the tissues are made, and not drugs or other medications that most traditional doctors use to cure diseases and illnesses.

Since the wrong diagnosis has been made and the wrong medicines have been used to try and cure the illness, your doctor is not going to have the ability to fix your GI problem.  Instead, seek out an alternative solution to your problem, like a holistic gastroenterologist, who can outline the steps you need to take to cure IBS.

Diarrhea and IBS: The “True” Cause of Your Irritable Bowel Syndrome Diarrhea

angrymanwithdiarrheasmall Diarrhea and IBS: The True Cause of Your Irritable Bowel Syndrome DiarrheaIf you have ever suffered from Inflammatory Bowel Syndrome (IBS), then you may have had the problem of unexpected diarrhea and IBS.

Diarrhea comes on when you least expect it, such as when you are out shopping, eating or socializing with friends and family. At these times, the diarrhea is “urgent” and can be a very embarrassing and stressful situation. Frequent rushes to the bathroom, nausea or vomiting-type sensations, bloating etc. are also commonplace. This feeling of an uncontrollable bowel movement haunts you wherever you go.

A doctor may suggest that you take Imodium or similar product, which provides only temporary relief. Unfortunately, those types of medications will not take care of the real cause of your condition. You will need to find out what the real cause of your condition is before you have any hopes making it go away. So, what is the real cause of this diarrhea and IBS?

Diarrhea comes about when the inside lining of the bowel is irritated with acids from the digestive system and from foods-particularly fiber foods passing by and brushing up against it. This is why the “urgency” comes about in people right after they eat. Your body does not like how the acid causes damage to the wall of the colon, and because of this, water floods into your bowel to move the acid and food out as quickly as possible.

It’s quite surprising that the medical world still believes that bacteria or germ infection is the primary cause of diarrhea and IBS.

Medical experts prefer to prescribe strong and harmful antibiotics for handling this situation. But this is not the answer for inhibiting the reappearance of this condition. Although the bacterial or germ infection theory dominates the thought process of the medical experts, this theory is totally incorrect and outdated.

Antibiotics that are prescribed for any kind of bacterial infection WILL kill the GOOD bacteria as well — the good bacteria that guards your GI tract and IT DOES NOT GROW BACK ON IT’S OWN. The mucosal lining guards the delicate tissue in your intestine. Stomach acid digests foods and then digests and inflames the tissue, fat, skin, and muscle from your intestine wall and colon when the lining is damaged. This, in turn, brings on diarrhea. Your body helps protect you by adding water to your colon to dilute the acid and quickly move the (roughage) out= diarrhea= to minimize the damage to wall of the colon. This is why after eating the sense of “urgency” occurs in many people. This can be a very uncomfortable situation for people when they are out in public and are not close to a bathroom.

The answer to diarrhea and IBS doesn’t lie in taking products such as Imodium, nor is stopping eating the solution. The solution to diarrhea and IBS lies in rebuilding the mucosal lining of the gastrointestinal tract with supplements provided under the care of a naturopath who specializes in GI diseases.

IBS Support: 5 Frequently Asked Questions about Irritable Bowel Syndrome

support IBS Support: 5 Frequently Asked Questions about Irritable Bowel SyndromeI have been a holistic gastroenterologist for over 3 decades, and my line of work involves providing people with IBS support.Basically I am in the business of preventing people from having bowel surgery.

This has brought me into contact with many clients who ask a lot of questions out of curiosity about their condition. There were some queries that kept recurring.

So, I decided to come up with a collection of questions that are frequently asked as far as my IBS support practice is concerned.

Q: Can IBS be classified as an Auto-Immune Disease?

A: Inflammatory Bowel Disease can certainly not be classified as an auto-immune disease because it is definitely not a disease at all. When one looks at it critically, you will note that the immune system does not attack the colon in IBS, Colitis, Ulcerative Colitis, or Crohn’s disease. On the contrary, your immune system does its job by trying to help you. That’s why it is involved-why snuff it out-no wonder people don’t get better.

A good example is if I cut my finger. The immune system will take charge of the situation and it works by a means referred to as “compliment.” This is an old-school term that explains how the immune system goes about doing its work. The immune system usually becomes active locally and it acts by preventing the finger from getting infected. As much as it is active in this process, I cannot blame my immune system for my cut finger. The same concept can be applied to the colon. In as much as the immune system becomes active, it cannot be held responsible for damaging the colon lining. On the contrary, it tries to act to prevent infection while at the same time trying to facilitate the healing process. Yet we still prescribe some drugs to help suppress the immune system.

Q. Can IBS be caused by NSAIDS?

A. One can easily get NSAIDS or non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs over the counter. There are some, like aspirin and ibuprofen, which do not need a prescription. These are not known to cause IBS directly. They may cause stomach upsets due to their acidity but they are not responsible for conditions like IBD. However, they may worsen an already existing situation, especially when antibiotics were used at some point BEFORE the NSAIS’s were used. Because of this, the NSAID may be able to penetrate the porous mucosal lining and end up irritating the wall of the GI tract.

Q. Is IBD hereditary?

This is not exactly the case. There may be some genetic tendencies for some body systems to develop a weakness towards a particular disease. As far as the gastro-intestinal problems are concerned, people do not get IBD without there being other factors that can possibly trigger an underlying “genetic” issue. It does not require genetic tendencies to develop IBD. What does “run in the family” really mean? What really runs in the family are people who frequently use antibiotics. This “environmental”factor is the real cause of IBD’s such as crohn’s (not a ) “disease.”

Q. Some of my doctors are recommending the use of colonics or increasing my fiber. Is that an idea worth taking up?

A. This is not recommended because it will only worsen the situation. Considering the colon lining is already inflamed, it is not a good idea to worsen this by sticking stuff up there or dragging roughage over it. It is, however, a good idea to eat a diet that is low in fiber-temporarily-until you get it fixed- and yes–any IBD can be permanently cured.

Q. Why is it hard for some Naturopaths to fix leaky gut syndrome?

A. Naturopaths are paths are good at treating most general problems. Problems that affect the colon are very complex and thus require Naturopaths who specialize in them. Unfortunately, most of them shy away from this condition. I have been dealing with this for 30 plus years to the point of developing my own Gastro-enterology method.

Probiotics for IBS: 10 Proven Tips for Effective Treatment for IBS with Probiotics

probiotic pills small Probiotics for IBS: 10 Proven Tips for Effective Treatment for IBS with Probiotics You may have heard that you should be taking probiotics for IBS (Irritable Bowel Syndrome).

What are they, anyhow? Probiotics are microorganisms like as bacteria or yeast that are available in supplements and foods. Amazingly enough, our digestive system is home to more than 500 species of bacteria, all of which help keep out intestines healthy and help with food digestion and regulate a healthy immune system.

When the balance of healthy bacteria is upset in the GI tract, like after an infection or ingestion of antibiotics, the lining of the intestines becomes damaged. Introducing new organisms, like those found in probotics, helps restore that imbalance and improves the integrity of the intestinal lining.

Probiotics are a very important tool in treating any gastrointestinal disorder, like acid reflux, gas, bloating, indigestion, diarrhea, IBS, colitis, Crohn’s Disease, and Leaky Gut Syndrome.

In order to get the maximum benefits of probiotics for IBS, there are 10 basic rules to follow when using probiotics for treatment of your Irritable Bowel Disease:

1. Conditions: Do take probiotics if you have ANY inflammatory bowel condition.

2. Refrigeration: Ensure that each probiotic is kept refrigerated. Lack of refrigeration will render them ineffective.

3. Colostrum: Always take probiotics for IBS with colostrum. Otherwise, they will not work properly.

4. Multiple bacterial strains: Do make sure that each probiotic contains multiple strains of bacteria.

5. Adequate dosage: Make sure that you ingest an adequate amount of the probiotic, whether in capsules or powder. Failing to do so is one of the biggest mistakes that people make. You don’t need to pay much attention to the “potency” or “number of bacterial units.” A typical dosage includes at least 2 capsules taken twice a day. There’s no need to worry about an overdose — that’s not possible. Find a good probiotic and take a bunch of it.

6. Post-antibiotic treatment: Always take probiotics immediately after finishing any antibiotics.

7. Yogurt myth: IBD cannot be reversed by eating lots of yogurt. While yogurt’s live bacteria may help alleviate some of your irritable bowel syndrome conditions, it is not a comprehensive treatment for IBS.

8. Food: Do not take probiotics with food. You should take them either 30 minutes prior to eating or one hour after eating.

9. Candida myth: The specialized yeast probiotic saccharomyces boulardii will NOT give you Candida — that is simply a myth. Actually, this yeast bacteria has the opposite effect — it will help eradicate Candida, as well as stop your diarrhea in its tracks.

10. Explaining your recovery: Don’t bother to try and explain to your physician how you made a complete recovery from IBS. S/he won’t understand and will attribute your recovery from IBS to a “miracle.” Well, in a way, it kinda is!

If you follow these tips for taking probiotics for IBS, you WILL get well, and if you don’t follow them, you won’t.

What Is a Leaky Gut?

acutepaininstomachsmall What Is a Leaky Gut?If you’ve been diagnosed with Leaky Gut Syndrome, you may be wondering, “What is a Leaky Gut, and how can I have one?”

There is much debate in the traditional medical community about the causes for Leaky Gut Syndrome.  However, there is one thing can’t be denied — our digestive systems no longer work the way that nature intended them to work.  Why?  Because our diets and our lifestyles have merged in a way that’s not healthy.  The result?   A diagnosis of Leaky Gut Syndrome or one of many other bowel disorders like colitis, Irritable Bowel Disease, diverticulitis, or Crohn’s Disease.

But what exactly is Leaky Gut Syndrome and what’s the best way to treat it?

The small intestine, the largest organ in your body, is where two-thirds of your immune system lies. The small intestine is continuously activated when it samples molecules passing through the intestinal lining.  Leaky Gut Syndrome refers to “holes” that have developed in the intestinal lining. These holes make the intestine more permeable than it should be.  Consequently, toxins, waste materials, and other substances can “leak” out into the rest of the body.

This breakdown of the mucosal lining is caused by taking certain medications, like antibiotics, that destroy the lining.  Once the lining is destroyed, that leaves the tender skin, fat and muscle that comprise the intestinal wall exposed to digestive acids.  These digestive acids cause inflammation and create “holes” in the intestines.  This will then trigger gastrointestinal and other problems that present with symptoms like abdominal bloating, fatigue, skin rashes, excessive gas and cramps, joint pain, and food sensitivities.

Once it has started, the “eating” of your GI tract does not stop, nor does it go away on its own. If left untreated, the acids will eventually destroy the whole colon, and then you will then have Crohn’s Disease, where you essentially have no remaining colon.  If you seek traditional medical treatment at this stage, your physician will more than likely recommend surgery to remove your colon.

Fortunately, Leaky Gut Syndrome and related irritable bowel diseases can all be reversed and fixed without drugs or surgery. A Naturopath experienced in treating Inflammatory Bowel Disease will use natural medicines to “patch up” those “holes” and rebuild the mucosal lining.  Once you’re cured, you will have no ongoing maintenance such as drugs, therapy, nutritional supplements, or dietary or lifestyle restrictions.

Don’t let Leaky Gut Syndrome destroy your colon and your life.  No longer ask, “What is a Leaky Gut?” but instead ask, “How can I cure Leaky Gut?”, and you’ll discover the answer in naturopathy.

How to Treat IBS: 7 Commonly-Prescribed Treatments That Do NOT Cure Irritable Bowel Syndrome

balanced diet small How to Treat IBS: 7 Commonly Prescribed Treatments That Do NOT Cure Irritable Bowel SyndromeIrritable Bowel Syndrome, often referred to as IBS or colitis, is a gastrointestinal disorder, and the recommendations for how to treat IBS run the gamut.

Because it is a very common disease, with statistics showing that every one out of five adults suffer from IBS in the United States, there is a great deal of misinformation online about treatments for the condition.

The common symptoms of the disease include abdominal pain, bloated stomach, heart burn and abdominal cramps. Some patients may have constipation while others may have diarrhea, fever, bleeding and weight loss. IBS is a disease that causes a great deal of discomfort and life upset. If you have one or more of these symptoms, you’ll probably begin searching the Internet for cures and treatments for your condition. Most of the information that you will discover may help mitigate your symptoms but won’t cure the disease, even though the treatments are recommended as cures.

Here are 7 examples of commonly-prescribed treatments that you will discover as you research how to treat IBS that do not work to cure IBS:

1. Yoga: Yoga was practiced by the ancient sages of India. There are some specific yoga asanas to improve the digestion and to manage the symptoms like diarrhea, constipation, bloating and others. Yoga is a combination of physical and mental exercises. The exercises focus on deep breathing, de-stressing and restoring balance to all organs and systems of the human body. The yoga asanas for IBS include the forward bend, the abdominal twist, the gas-relieving pose and breathing exercises. While these practices may help alleviate some IBS symptoms, yoga is not a cure.

2. Acupuncture and acupressure: These are Chinese medicinal practices that involve treating diseases by pricking fine needles or apply pressure on specific points in the body. Both of these procedures are effective in treating many diseases. An acupuncturist can help in relaxing muscle spasms and improve bowel function. While these practices may help mitigate some IBS symptoms, acupuncture and acupressure are not cures.

3. Home remedies: Home remedies like taking ginger and asafoetida are commonly recommended for IBS. Ginger paste mixed with lemon juice and honey and taken after every meal is recommended to make sure the food you eat is digested well. Drinking gooseberry water and eating pomegranate seeds are other common home remedies recommended for how to treat IBS. While these practices may help alleviate some IBS symptoms, home remedies are not the cure.

4. Stress management: Stress is often listed as a primary cause of IBS. Therefore, the recommendation to manage stress is to indulge yourself in a hobby that you like. Exercise regularly. Go for brisk walking or vigorous swimming or jogging or cycling to reduce stress. Sleep well. Practice yoga. While these practices may help reduce some IBS symptoms, stress management is not the cure.

5. Hypnosis: A trained hypnotist helps you in relaxing and can help you learn how to relax tense abdominal muscles to avoid cramps. While these practices may help overcome some IBS symptoms, hypnosis is not the cure.

6. Diet: Avoiding processed foods, spicy foods, fried foods and acidic foods is a commonly recommended protocol for treating IBS, as is eating a diet rich in fiber. Actually, the best diet for IBS is one in which you eat low fiber foods that won’t aggravate the already-inflamed intestinal tissue. This means no raw fruits or vegetables, and no nuts, seeds, or corn until you get your IBS fixed. While these practices may help alleviate some IBS symptoms, a different diet is not the cure. Actually, when you’re cured of IBS, you can eat whatever you like.

7. Life style modifications: Typical modifications include no alcohol and smoking, drinking plenty of water, regular exercise, and getting plenty of sleep. While these are all generally good recommendations for enhancing your lifestyle and may alleviate some IBS symptoms, lifestyle modifications are not the cure.

Here’s the best way to treat your IBS — naturopathy. IBS is caused from antibiotics you have taken over your lifetime. These antibiotics have caused damage to the mucosal lining of your intestines. If you want to get rid of IBS permanently, the damaged mucosal lining must be rebuilt. Naturopathic treatment does wonders in rebuilding the mucosal lining and intestinal wall through ingesting natural nutritional compounds. Naturopathy also helps to reinoculate beneficial organisms to help rebuild your GI tract.

The above commonly-recommended treatment options may help you manage your IBS symptoms. However, rebuilding the mucosal lining of your intestines is the only cure for IBS that works and is how to treat IBS.
