A question I get from every single client of mine is “what do I eat?” I understand the confusion- people naturally assume that there must be a special diverticulosis diet- leaky gut syndrome diet-ulcerative colitis diet ect. The reason for this confusion is that they have been given the wrong information. They have been told that these are all separate- distinct- different conditions- “diseases-syndromes” and therefore must require different treatments. They are not! All of these conditions are nothing other than different versions of IBD- Inflammatory Bowel Disease. One may have the symptoms of diarrhea- another bloody stool or mucus in the stool. They do appear to be different so therefore should be treated differently? No- there is only one diet for IBD- LOW FIBER. There are no other dietary requirements & even this is temporary. There are no other foods to avoid. Keep it simple- just one underlying condition- just one dietary adjustment.

Microscoptic Colitis or Lymphocytic Colitis-

if you have been diagnosed with either of these conditions-don’t worry about it- you don’t have anything terminal or mysterious. Although technically they are not colitis- they might as well be. They have the same symptoms -the same cause -the same cure. The main symptoms are diarrhea and abdominal pain. As a matter of fact these are so similar to other inflammatory bowel diseases (not diseases at all- but manmade injuries to the GI tract) that any doctor could have very easily diagnosed you with IBS. Now- I should tell you that if you do not get the proper treatment it will get worse and then you are looking at ulcerative colitis or even crohn’s. What is a good Lymphocytic & Microscopic Colitis Diet? There is nothing specifically different than any other IBD Diet- low fiber- no raw fruit- raw vegetables- nuts -seeds or corn- until this is healed by a proper holistic gastro- intestinal doctor. This diet is temporary-Then you will be able to eat whatever you want. So don’t fret when they throw these exotic terms at you. They are all just an inflamed GI tract tissue–perhaps in different “geographical” locations- upper GI vs Lower GI. Like a little camp fire- if left unattended it will become a raging forest fire.
