The answer to this question is —-ZERO! I mean how can something that comes out of a human breast be harmful? I get people who are all concerned ask me-’are these probiotic things going to hurt me?’ ‘Has there been any research done?’ Ya—–how about 30,000 yrs worth?

The experiment that is most meaningful is the mini one we are currently in—-50 yrs worth of finding out what happens when we DON’T breastfeed. All hell has broken lose—like the epidemic of inflammatory bowel conditions that has swept over us like a diarrhea tsunami. Pleasant thought huh?

When is the last time you heard of someone hospitalized due to taking PRO-biotics? (FOR-life)

The questions should be about the side effects of ANTI-biotics. (ANTI-life).

The real conversation should be about the side BENEFITS of probiotics—-what else good is it doing for you while it is giving you the initial desired benefit.

Nature provides the ultimate in ‘whole’ istic medicine.

While fixing your diarrhea they are bolstering your immune system & preventing those pesty UTI’s or sinus infections.

Remember that infamous study where they spent millions to prove that breast milk was good for babies?

For those of you who can’t nurse your baby for one reason or another-it happens—there are baby probiotics that are an exact replica of healthy breast milk & as safe as.

Remember-remember-remember—always pop some colostrum in your mouth too—and you just breast fed yourself-was it as fun as the 1st time?

Did you know that when you pull a nice organically grown vegetable from the ground that is coated with probiotics—until we power wash the s— out if it. See anybody keeling over from eating carrots?

Prebiotics in your probiotic? Sure-why not—nature provides that as the lactose in the milk-she’s kinda got this thing figured out.

Just to re-affirm something I have stated before—-your immune system IS the probiotic bacteria—-can that be a bad thing?

There is a tremendous amount of misinformation about crohn’s out there. Here’s the scoop.

What is crohns disease? It is not a disease—it’s man-made.

Difference between crohn’s and other IBD’s? Crohn’s is what happens when you have UC and you sit on your hands & don’t get the proper treatment. Are you getting that treatment? Time to look around?

Crohn s disease causes? It’s not your immune system—-but the antibiotics in your food-drinking water & those funky pills you were prescribed. Yup—you’ve had em.

Symptoms of crohns disease–blood & mucus & undigested food in the stool.

Crohns disease treatment- the proper treatment is to use supplements to rebuild the mucus membrane.

Crohns disease diet-low fiber.

Living with crohn s disease? Absolutely unnecessary.

Is crohn s disease contagious? Not if you hover! 

Crohn s disease in children? Yup—-exact same cause & treatment as adults.

Is crohn’s surgery inevitable? no -no- no -no way.

Many of you who are living with UC spend extended periods of time with no symptoms & even believe your are cured or it is in ‘remission’ & then -bam- a flare-up! I want to be clear that unless you have done something specific to heal it—-which can only be done with nutritional supplements that are made for UC and other inflammatory bowel conditions you have zero chance of it being healed & you will be doomed to live a “colitis lifestyle.” This means that you will live a life with limited food choices and in fear of the next ulcerative colitis flare up coming at any time.

Relative to the above & all of the posts on this blog you should pretty much understand my position on prescription medicine’s role in UC treatment. But—-I do also have some additional and I am sure surprising thoughts about the use of these meds – for example when you are in a UC flare up. In cases like this—I love meds like 9mp & prednisone for UC symptoms. Anything that will keep you comfortable while we are seeking a natural UC cure is great in my book. This is a very practical strategy while we are taking actions that will actually heal it. Short term use of these meds do not cause any bodily damage or interfere with the proper treatment of any IBD.

But—to just use these meds w/o the proper treatment-suppressing- but not curing the symptoms is a slow train to ulcerative colitis surgery. Why are people surprised that w/o having done any kind of legit—natural- treatment-while using these meds- that the symptoms come back?

Treatment for UC flare-ups & even if it is in ‘remission’ looks like this.

• If needed to temporarily control symptoms and make you comfortable—-steroidal or even–-again-–the temporary use of immune suppressing drugs like Humira.
• An ulcerative colitis diet—-low fiber—-again-–this is temporary. If you want to get involved with any of the other unnecessary dietary gymnastics— go ahead  & good luck. One example of something that is not a UC cure is the Specific Carbohydrate Diet. Ya–that’s cool to manipulate food to kinda control symptoms—but it does not have a chance in hell of healing it--isn’t that right all of you SCD cultist—-how long have you been doing it & doing it & doing it- a permanent juggling of food–is that acceptable to you?
• Rebuilding the colon—the mucus membrane—starting with probiotics & colostrum. S0 yes—there is an effective treatment for a UC cure & yes  sometimes it involves the strategic use of prescription drugs.
• My theory is whatever works along the way to a way to eliminate UC flare-ups and ultimately a legit-permanenet cure for UC.
• The Bowel Golden Rule—-if using these meds you MUST also be using the proper nutritional supplements—otherwise—what’s going to happen when you try to stop taking the meds?—–that’s right—you never will be able to.

All of this also applies to colitis in your children & even your dog & cat. If you have a gastrointestinal tract—you are susceptible to an irritated bowel.

What is the colitis treatment? I know by now it must be getting boring—-but you guessed it—–it is the same as the IBS & crohn’s treatment-only tweaked for the severity of the damage to the exact same tissue. As I have stated my times on this blog—-IBD conditions come a form that is just like 1st-2nd -3rd degree burns. IBS is like a 1st degree burn having the the least amount of damage—then colitis = medium damage & crohn’s the most damage.

It’s all the same tissue—we just need more raw materials—-stuff like amino & fatty acids to fill those ‘holes’ in. Then we cover it with the mucosal lining to protect the tissue—kinda like a bandaid—but permanent.

Done properly this proves that there is no such thing as chronic colitis-as many of you believe there is no colitis cure and at best it goes into remission now & then. When you seem to be playing hide & seek with colitis and may have been told that you have acute colitis-having sudden ‘attacks’ may really be acute diverticulitis.

So—to sum it up-for colitis relief we need to temporarily eat a low fiber diet & rebuild the colon wall—–yes—we  CAN rebuild your colon—-just like healing a broken bone or that 3rd degree sunburn by ingesting nutritional supplements—as stated above that contain the very raw material that colons are made of.

Your poor colon is just sitting there saying—’feeeed me!’

8. Cure for colitis?—yup—-a natural one- the only way out.

I think you get the message my friends—colitis—-’it is what it is.’

Lastly—been given some other crazy name? That’s ok—just plug it in  & the rest is the same-is the same is the same.

Those of you who have read most any of the posts on this blog know that irritable bowel syndrome – colitis- UC & crohn’s ‘disease’ are fundamentally the same condition. I play the name game as a way to give you a road map that will ultimately get us to where we want to go. These names represent-from left to right – the degrees of damage to the bowel wall and hence the severity of the symptoms.

So to set the record straight here is what I must see to make an IBS Diagnosis.

1. IBS-D–persistent-daily-sometimes urgent diarrhea – up to 5-6 times per day. Anything more than that & you have stepped into the world of colitis .

2. IBS-C- constipation. Some people experience this along with the diarrhea. We call them swingers—back & forth even within the same 2-3-4 days.

Listen to your body—-it is very simple–not the people who want to stick a tube up your butt.

Crohn,s ‘Disease’ is always created by the exposure to antibiotics ingested in a myriad forms—not only from prescribed medication but from our antibiotic saturated environment—like the food & water you consume-the water you bathe in—how about that chlorine laced pool you enjoy all summer? Listerine? Hand sanitizer? People—stop arguing this point with me—’I've never had antibiotics’-bull shit.

Crohn’s ‘Disease’ is a condition -along with IBS-Colitis & UC that can only exist when we have had our mucosal lining destroyed by the above.

Crohn’s ‘Disease’ is just like the above conditions-just a more severe version of the above & like them it has the same symptoms like diarrhea- inflammation -bloody stools with mucus-only much worse.

Crohn’s ‘Disease’ is degenerative—meaning every single time you eat—you secrete digestive acids and they take a bite out of your colon- the clock is ticking. Did you eat breakfast this morning?

Crohn’s ‘Disease’ is not caused by your immune system attacking your colon.

Crohn’s ‘Disease’ is not a separate condition from IBS-Colitic-Ulcerative Colitis. ‘Mr/Ms Jones—you have either / or  / & any of the above.’–Doesn’t work that way.

Crohn’s ‘Disease’ is not good to have – as your stomach acids have cannibalized your bowel wall.

Crohn’s ‘Disease’ is not just going to go away while sitting around on Prednisone.

Crohn’s ‘Disease’ is not incurable-far from it.

Crohn’s ‘Disease’ is not something you want to let slide w/o getting the ‘proper’ care.

• I say friend because w/o it you would have a hole blown through the wall of your colon in a matter of several days –  instant antibiotic karma is gonna get you! Oh no-another John Lennon reference! See why below.
• When an antibiotic (in any of it’s versions) destroys the mucosal lining in your intestines—which is there to protect the tender lining – it exposes it to your stomach acids.
• These acids literally eat holes in your bowel.
• When they eat deep enough the acid and  fibrous foods make contact with nerve tissue which can cause inflammation.
• The body does not like that so it calls on it’s inate defense mechanism—it pours a ton of water into the bowel to dilute the acid—-minimizing the damage & to float it and the fiber out asap. This happens when we are in the mall-’I knew I shouldn’t have eaten at the food court again!’ Hey-at least in the mall you can buy some more undergarments. Unlike the flight attendant I had for a client–you know that little teeny -weeny toilet in the back that everyone is fighting to get into and then you hear-”what the hell are you doing in there?’—-ya imagine that nightmare & you thought you had it bad when car pooling!
• W/o diarrhea you are screwed. As I said in an earlier post-’Thank God for Diarrhea.’
• BTW this will not-ever go into remission all by itself.
• Every day that you take Imodium or similar products or go all out with things like Prednisone you are kidding yourself—–but not your body. While you are covering up those symptoms the damage to the exposed tissue done by the acids—every single time you eat-the holes just keep getting bigger & deeper.
• Got IBS and want to get crohn’s-do what I just said. One day you will wake up in a pool of blood and you won’t be the 1st one to call me at 3:oo am freaked out.
• By that time it will take a lot of work putting humpty-dumpty back together again.
• Unfortunately if you have been chugging the big ‘I’ for awhile I can’t tell you what to do here & now because we are then talking about a pretty big reconstruction job- but if you zip me an email I will get you started.
• Oh—almost forgot—–c-diff. This is a bacterial infection that you cannot get w/o having had antibiotics 1st. If you REALLY want to get c-diff—-go hang out  in a hospital for awhile-which is one giant house of antibiotics. Then of course what do they give you to ‘remedy’ this——-yup-you get it. Since this infection is totally unnatural the gut creates an extremely acidic environment to try to kill / eat the bacteria =irritating the stomach /bowel wall = diarrhea.
• You know that mucosal lining that I said protects the intestinal wall—-well it also doubles as the GI tract’s immune system. So -think this whole story through and you will then understand why your ‘allopathic’ doctor just doesn’t get it.
• Just a crazy-off the wall thought—–what if we mixed Imodium with a probiotic as some kind of 1/2 assed way to get through the day w/o digging a deeper hole?  Do we somehow get the best of both worlds? Maybe I should patent that?
