Hello again Dr. Snow,

Given the various formulations of probiotics on the market, are these still considered beneficial regardless of the various expressions experienced by bowel disease sufferers?

I have associated my current debilitating flare to another attempt to incorporate probiotics. I have experienced negetave responses while consuming probiotics for several years. Never once was I able to reach a "therapeutic" level. Could you possibly help me understand how the addition of colostrum could change the outcome?

Is it your experience Dr. Snow that some of your patients are unable to tolerate probiotics in any form? I ask because I'm afraid that any future attempt to add probiotics may propel my disease into a state in which I can not recover.

Thank you for your posts, and your insight.

Your right of course Dr. Snow,

You've mentioned all the elements necessary for healing within your combined posts.

Obviously it comes down to implementation, AND an understanding of how to read cues from your body for further fine tuning (here lies great difficulty).

I have tried to incorporate much of what you have written to see how I respond to your therapy. As far as aloe, I ended up choosing George's "Always Active Aloe". I chose this brand for fear of the polysaccharide that is normally present in the aloe. It has been mentioned repeatedly in some circles on the internet that these polysaccarides are detrimental in the case of bowel disorders like colitis (supposedly feeds pathenogenic bacteria).

Since I am more interested in therapy instead of conjecture, I wonder what your thoughts are regarding the appropriate aloe vera for intestinal healing.

Thanks Dr. Snow

Do you espouse the blood type theory Dr. Snow?

Also, I wish to thank you for your blog. Much of what you say resonates with my 10 years of experience of trying to stave off the progression of UC. I have read through your blog several times, and I find many of your posts useful as I reflect on my own disease. I have spent many years trying various diets. Although healing did occur, it never lasted.

I have self implemented some of your principles, and I am encouraged that I am tolerating theses well...especially after a recent severe flare.

You need to take a probiotic that reflects the exact profile of bacterial strains as are in breast milk also they need to be in the right ratio to each other and the right population-dose for what you are trying to treat. You cannot just throw a bunch of strains haphazardly together like PB -8 and every other probiotic on the market. As for colostrum- any thing other than human needs to be taken in a lactose neutralized form- otherwise it is minimally effective. The ones I use are manufactured specially for Doctors to prescribe for their patients.Without that combination it is very hard for the body to heal.

I would also know which is the correct probiotic to take with colostrum. I'm currently taking Goat Milk colostrum, which I think is important to mention, since it's molecules most mimics human mothers milk. There are so many combination probiotics available it's confusing, I'm currently taking PB8 14 billion (8 strains) Also, I had my colon removed due to ulcerative coliutus and I'm wondering if taking colostrum and probiotics is as effective for me and if I would need to increase/decrease dosage?
