The digestive acids in the stomach and small intestines hitch a ride on the food as it is being digested and eventually becomes – stool and as it passes by-it “burns” the tissue—- but only of the people who do not have a sufficient mucosal lining. That’s what separates the “haves”-as in have IBS and the “have nots”. Is the stool acidic enough to irritate tissue-hmmm-what happens when your beautiful baby has a messy diaper that does not get changed right away—- or how about you— that time you were in a hurry in the bathroom and just did not take care of business completely-come on-be honest you’ve all done that at least once. Is it really that simple? Yes it is.
